Armenian wrestler Suren Aghajanyan has become European champion at the Under-23 European Wrestling Championships, while Armenia’s Greco-Roman team finished second in the overall team standings.
In the 60 kg final, the Armenian wrestler defeated Georgia’s Giorgi Kochalidze in just two minutes, securing another gold medal for Armenia, the Armenian Wrestling Federation reported.
Aghajanyan won the bout with a score of 9–0.
Armenia’s U23 Greco-Roman team won two gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the tournament. The award for the team was received by head coach Armen Babalaryan.
Earlier, Ashot Khachatryan (72 kg) lost in the bronze medal match. In the 67 kg category, Yurik Hoveyan lost in the repechage bout and finished his performance at the European Championships.
Previously, Aramais Harutyunyan (130 kg) had won gold, Samvel Terteryan took silver, and Manvel Khachatryan claimed bronze.
