Metakse Hakobyan says goal remains return to Artsakh

Artsakh residents view both their failures and temporary achievements as transitional stages, as their goal has not changed and will not change — returning to Artsakh, said Artsakh National Assembly member Metakse Hakobyan on her Facebook page.

She added that “an Artsakh resident will never vote for the one who surrendered their homeland.”

“Our meetings with Artsakh residents have so alarmed the ‘nikolists’ that they did not limit themselves to attacks organized against us on social media through their satellites (unfortunately, born in Artsakh but turned into Judases). Moreover, they recruited several ‘newly emerged Judases,’ brought them into the hall, and staged yet another show.

A performance whose subject, no matter how much they try to conceal it, was precisely the issues we raise as a result of our meetings. But they missed the most important point. One truth runs like a red thread through all our meetings — we view both our failures and temporary achievements as transitional phases, because our goal has not changed and will not change: return to Artsakh.

It is disgusting to hear the one who surrendered Artsakh, who deliberately turned our brave sons into sacrifices, speak with a crooked smile about a ‘single homeland.’ It is disgusting when the architect of defeat tries to teach us patriotism. He does not know the real Artsakh resident. He does not understand their nature. An Artsakh resident is proud. Dignified.

They work, create, do not break, even when everything has been taken from them. And most importantly, no performance, no show, no false agenda can extract the trust of an Artsakh resident. Because an Artsakh resident does not forget. An Artsakh resident does not forgive.

And an Artsakh resident will never vote for the one who surrendered their homeland.

P.S. We have loved and continue to love the Republic of Armenia; it has always been and remains our homeland, but we will never stop fighting for justice, for returning to our share of the homeland — Artsakh.”

On September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale attack against Artsakh, placing the entire territory under massive shelling. As a result, a day later, on September 20, the Artsakh authorities accepted the proposal of the Russian peacekeeping mission command to cease fire, agreeing to Baku’s terms — disarmament of the Defense Army and dissolution of the Republic of Artsakh. The attack resulted in 223 deaths, including 20 civilians, six of whom were minors. From September 24, the forced displacement of Artsakh residents began, with more than 100,000 people forcibly relocated to Armenia. According to some reports, about 20 Armenians remained in Artsakh, of whom 11 also returned to Armenia, one died, and one was detained.
