NDA has no decision on election participation

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has not yet made a decision on whether to participate in the upcoming elections, said NDA council member Ara Papyan, adding that discussions are ongoing, Pastinfo reports.

“We are holding online discussions with our like-minded partners in Europe and the United States, and we also regularly conduct meetings in Armenia with participants from different regions. Combining all of this, I think there will be clarity within two weeks. The issue is that many things are changing rapidly, and we are not rushing, as we have time until mid-April,” he said.

According to Papyan, his personal position is that they should not participate in the elections, and even if they do, they should not cooperate with other forces.

“We should run independently, but I do not see any point in participating. That is why I lean more toward not participating, because I do not believe political struggle is limited to elections alone. Moreover, the elections have already begun to be violated — do you understand? Nikol Pashinyan is traveling to regions, conducting campaigning at the expense of state resources,” Papyan said.

Asked how many members of the party support his view, he said there is no dominant position yet.

“In any case, the decision will be clearer in one to two weeks,” he concluded.

Parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled to take place on June 7, 2026.
