CTBTO to hold exercise in Garni observatory

Within the framework of cooperation between Armenia and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), a regional National Data Center (NDC) workshop and simulation exercise for Eastern European countries will be held from August 3 to 7 at the Garni Geophysical Observatory of the Seismic Protection Territorial Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

This initiative is considered unprecedented, as a workshop of this scale is being organized in Armenia for the first time, the Interior Ministry reported.

Around 25 representatives from various Eastern European countries are expected to participate, ensuring professional discussions and the exchange of experience.

During the workshop, CTBTO experts will present the organization’s innovative technologies and solutions.

Registration for participation has already opened on the official CTBTO website.

A workshop of this scale is being held in Armenia for the first time.

Earlier, Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan received a delegation led by CTBTO Executive Secretary Robert Floyd and expressed readiness to further strengthen cooperation. Robert Floyd highly praised the activities of the Seismic Protection Territorial Service, highlighting the importance of accurate data provided by the Garni seismic station, which has helped prevent the spread of misinformation regarding nuclear tests and contributed to regional peace and stability.
