Armenia’s Investigative Committee has approved a motion allowing businessman Samvel Karapetyan’s remarks to be conveyed to the public, but the defense has not yet received it, Karapetyan’s lawyer Aram Vardevanyan said on Facebook.
He said the rule of law must prevail.
“I am posting my detailed response. Throughout this entire period, yet another lie was being spread, claiming that Samvel Karapetyan had not been allowed to address the public by video message. We received the court act on March 17, and on March 18 we had already applied to the investigator to obtain permission to convey Samvel Karapetyan’s remarks to the public. The head of the executive branch appears to suggest that we should ignore the court decision, but that is not accepted even in Somalia, though it was interesting. Incidentally, on March 19, the Investigative Committee replied to the head of the executive branch and to the media that they had granted our motion, but I still have not received the decision,” the post says.
At a briefing on March 19, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the Probation Service had announced that businessman Samvel Karapetyan could go live on air, so let him go live and say what he has to say. He added that both oligarchs were weak, both in analytical thinking and in vocabulary.
