Archbishop Ezras highlights church’s unity mission

The primary mission of the Armenian Apostolic Church is to preserve unity and Christian values, said Archbishop Ezras, head of the Russian and New Nakhichevan Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

He emphasized that since its foundation, the church has maintained the immutable values inherent in the Christian faith, Vesti.ru reports.

“The Church has united, preserved, and resisted all destructive forces that undermine this spiritual unity. I believe this is the main mission of our Church — to preserve unity throughout the world, around our Church and within it,” the archbishop said.

Archbishop Ezras also noted that current global developments indicate the presence of a worldwide and spiritual crisis.

On February 14, it became known that Armenia’s Prosecutor’s Office had initiated criminal proceedings against Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II on charges of failing to enforce a court act related to the case of the former head of the Masis Diocese, and had banned him from leaving the country. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had expressed the belief that the purpose of organizing a Bishops’ Assembly of the Armenian Church in Austria was to remove the Catholicosate and the treasures of Etchmiadzin from Armenia.
