Armenia’s Investigative Committee has received a motion to revoke the preventive measure imposed on Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, the committee said, according to Panorama.am.
“We have received the defense’s motion to lift the preventive measure… It will be examined within the timeframe prescribed by law,” the Investigative Committee stated.
The preventive measure applied to the Supreme Patriarch is a ban on leaving the country.
Karekin II has received an invitation to attend the funeral of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II.
Metropolitan of Akhalkalaki, Kumurdo and Kari Nikoloz Pachuashvili earlier said the Patriarchate had sent invitations to all First Hierarchs worldwide to attend the funeral of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II. He noted that Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II had expressed a desire to travel to Georgia to take part in the funeral ceremony. Ilia II will be buried on March 22.
