If Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is re-elected, Armenia will face a “real danger of losing its statehood,” said Hovik Aghazaryan, an MP expelled from the Civil Contract party, in a Facebook post.
He said it was impossible not to respond to the prime minister’s recent briefing remark that if he is not re-elected, there will be war in September.
“It is obvious that he means Azerbaijan as the initiator of such a war. It is obvious that Azerbaijan would pursue concrete objectives.
It is also obvious that if Nikol Pashinyan is re-elected, Azerbaijan will obtain those objectives without war (‘There will be no war, there will be peace’).
Conclusion:
If Nikol Pashinyan is re-elected, we will face a real danger of losing statehood.
If Nikol Pashinyan is not elected, we will have a real opportunity to preserve statehood,” Aghazaryan said.
At a briefing on March 19, Pashinyan said that certain political forces advocate revising the peace agenda, which, according to him, could lead to inevitable war shortly after elections, most likely in autumn — “a new September war with severe consequences.”
