Papikyan says no Azerbaijani new posts on Armenian soil

Azerbaijan has not built any positions on Armenia’s sovereign territory since 2021, Defense Minister Suren Papikyan said.

“No, it has not,” he said in response to a journalist’s question, according to Aysor.am .

“No positions have been built on Armenia’s territory. The Defense Ministry has issued an official statement — Azerbaijan builds on its own territory, and we build on ours,” he added.

Earlier, Armenia’s Defense Ministry denied claims that Azerbaijani armed forces had established a new position on Armenia’s sovereign territory in 2025, stating that the position “does not cross Armenia’s state border and is located on Azerbaijani territory.” Defense Ministry spokesperson Aram Torosyan presented a map showing the location.

On March 4, former Human Rights Defender of Armenia and head of the Wings of Unity political initiative, Arman Tatoyan, held an urgent press conference, claiming that a new Azerbaijani position had appeared in the Gegharkunik region.
