217 Armenian goods get UAE trade benefits

Under an agreement discussed in the National Assembly on March 24, 217 out of 270 goods exported from Armenia to the UAE will receive a preferential entry regime once the deal comes into force. The draft law concerns the ratification of the “Economic Partnership Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and its member states, on one side, and the United Arab Emirates, on the other.”

According to Armenia’s Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, the agreement signed in June 2025 aims to liberalize and simplify trade flows, promote economic and commercial cooperation, and encourage the expansion of mutual trade, as reported by 1lurer.am .

The minister noted that, if current export volumes are maintained, Armenian exporters will immediately receive around $500,000 in subsidies, providing a new competitive advantage and supporting export growth. At the same time, the level of subsidies will also increase.

He added that the average customs tariff on Armenian exports to the UAE will drop from 6% to 2.6%.

Within Armenia’s proposals, priority was given to goods with strong export potential. In agriculture, this includes fresh fruits such as strawberries, wild strawberries, fresh tomatoes, fruit juices, honey, jams, mineral water with sugar, live plants, apples, apricots, and other products.

In the industrial sector, the list includes aluminum foil, aluminum alloys, medical equipment, radio-electronic and broadcasting technology, and other manufactured goods.

A positive conclusion on the agreement was presented by Shirak Torosyan, a member of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration.
