Armenia’s National Assembly has adopted a series of economic, environmental, and legal initiatives during its March 25 session, approving them in both first and second readings.
Among the key measures, lawmakers ratified the Economic Partnership Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and its member states, on one side, and the United Arab Emirates on the other, signed in June 2025, according to 1lurer.am .
Under the agreement, 217 out of 270 goods exported from Armenia to the UAE will receive preferential access once it comes into force. As a result, Armenian exporters have received approximately $500,000 in direct subsidies.
One of the initiatives adopted in the second reading concerns mandatory insurance for mopeds, tricycles, and quadricycles. The measure is justified by the growing number of such vehicles and the need to ensure liability coverage arising from their use.
Lawmakers also approved a draft law introducing a gradual restriction and eventual ban on single-use polyethylene products.
In addition, parliament ratified the Framework Agreement on the International Alliance for Big Cats, aimed at strengthening international cooperation and preventing the decline of large feline populations. It was noted that the agreement is particularly relevant for Armenia given the importance of the Caucasian leopard to the country’s biodiversity.
