EU leaders to attend first Armenia-EU summit

Armenia will host its first summit with the European Union in Yerevan on May 4 and 5, 2026, with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan representing the Armenian side.

The European Union will be represented by European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Ahead of the summit, Costa and von der Leyen will also take part in the eighth summit of the European Political Community, scheduled to be held in Yerevan on May 4, 2026, Armenia’s Foreign Ministry said.

The Armenia-EU summit will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of the economy, energy, transport, digital cooperation and people-to-people contacts. The leaders will also discuss progress toward ensuring peace, security, connectivity and prosperity in the South Caucasus, as well as current global challenges.

EU relations with Armenia are based on the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, which entered into force in 2021, and on the “Armenia-EU Partnership Strategic Agenda” document, adopted at the December 2025 meeting of the Armenia-EU Partnership Council attended by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, and EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.
