MP rules out political decision on war report disclosure

The issue of whether to publish the report of the parliamentary investigative commission on the circumstances of the 44-day war is purely legal and cannot be decided based on political discretion, said Artur Hovhannisyan, secretary of the National Assembly’s Civil Contract faction.

“Look, the question of publishing the report of the 44-day war investigative commission is exclusively a legal matter, not one of political discretion, and the answer to its publication lies within legal procedures. Therefore, it cannot be published in any way based on political considerations,” he said, as reported by Armenpress.

The MP recalled that the authorities have repeatedly expressed their position on the issue.

Addressing work with relatives of the missing, Hovhannisyan said that regular engagement is maintained with them.

“As for working with the parents and relatives of the missing, we maintain ongoing communication with them, and in this sense, I believe everything is being done on our part in terms of care and attention toward them,” he emphasized.

Recently, a group of relatives of missing persons held a protest near the National Assembly building, demanding that the leadership publish the investigative commission’s report on the 44-day war. Earlier, National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan stated that the report is ready but cannot be published due to classified information it contains, noting that all interested MPs may ознакомиться with it.
