Tumo center in Echmiadzin stalled by legal hurdles

The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin reports that the opening of a Tumo Center in Echmiadzin has been halted due to administrative and legal obstacles.

It is noted that the project for a modern educational complex designed for around 2,000 children has long been ready.

“The architectural design has been completed, including 3D visualizations and animation. This important initiative for the city has stalled not due to a lack of ideas or funding, but because of administrative and legal barriers. Recent legislative changes have also meant that land is no longer allocated to the Church,” the statement said.

Land plots will no longer be granted to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin as free ownership. The National Assembly adopted in the second reading and in full the draft amendments to the Land Code submitted by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, with 67 votes in favor, 26 against, and 3 abstentions.
