Three individuals are suspected of setting fire to property inside the Kanaz building, Interior Ministry spokesperson Narek Sargsyan said.
As a result of joint operations by the Community Police of the Interior Ministry and officers of the National Security Service, three suspects were identified and brought before the investigative body on March 27. They are suspected of burning property inside a building on Azatutyan Avenue on March 25.
“According to preliminary data, three minors entered the building, played guitar, and burned items to keep warm, which led to a fire. The preliminary investigation is ongoing,” Sargsyan said in a post.
On the evening of March 25, at 7:12 p.m., the Interior Ministry’s Rescue Service received a report of a fire in the inactive four-story former Kanaz cultural center building at 19 Azatutyan Avenue in Yerevan. The fire was extinguished more than four and a half hours later, at 11:44 p.m. Firefighters also managed to prevent the spread of the fire to the first floor and nearby residential buildings.
