Pashinyan declares $500,000 Zayed Prize award

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has declared the $500,000 received as part of the 2026 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity.

According to the official declaration of gifts submitted to the Corruption Prevention Commission, the amount—equivalent to 188,750,000 drams—was registered as a gift received in the course of official duties, Factor.am reports.

The Zayed Award is granted to individuals or organizations, regardless of origin or location, who work selflessly toward advancing human fraternity and peaceful coexistence.

Under Armenia’s Law on Public Service, gifts received during official duties, visits, or business trips must be transferred to the state or community if their value exceeds 60,000 drams.

The Commission stated that after registration, the gift is transferred to the State Property Management Committee. The Committee, in turn, noted that the amount has not yet been recorded on its balance sheet.

“At present, the matter is under procedures defined by the Armenian government’s June 20, 2024 decision No. 956,” the Committee said.

The declaration specifies that the funds received by Pashinyan were classified as a gift provided in connection with the performance of official duties.

Pashinyan received the award on February 4, 2026, during a ceremony in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. On the same day, he and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev jointly attended the award event. The total $1 million prize fund was split between the Armenian prime minister and the Azerbaijani president.
