Video shows Pashinyan guard striking detained teen

A new video circulating online from the March 29 incident at St. Anna Cathedral appears to show a man striking 18-year-old David Minasyan, who has been remanded in custody for two months over an alleged attempt to hit Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, «Factor.am » reports.

According to the report, Factor TV identified the man as an employee of the State Protection Service responsible for the prime minister’s security and regularly accompanying him.

The same officer is said to have been involved in a previous incident on October 26, 2025, at Hovhannavank, where he removed a citizen by covering his mouth. The individual, Hayk Dorunts, had publicly stated in Pashinyan’s presence that a cleric defrocked by the Mother See did not have the right to conduct liturgy.

During the liturgy at St. Anna Church, attended by Prime Minister Pashinyan, an incident occurred as security personnel were clearing a path for him to exit. A young man objected and then attempted to strike the prime minister. That individual was identified as David Minasyan, who has been charged with hooliganism and interfering with the lawful official or political activities of a public official.

Following the incident, Minasyan was detained for two months.

Other participants—his brother Mikayel Minasyan and Gevorg Gevorgyan—have been released. Gevorgyan was granted bail of 5 million drams and a travel restriction, while Mikayel Minasyan was placed under a travel ban. He is accused of assisting, while Gevorgyan is accused of organizing the incident.
