The investigator in the case concerning the incident at St. Anna Church, Hakob Hakobkokhyan, has been dismissed from his job, after submitting the relevant resignation request. The Investigative Committee explained the reasons.
It said the investigator had violated requirements related to the publication of pre-trial investigation data and to searches.
“The Internal Security Department has launched an internal inquiry over violations by Hakob Hakobkokhyan, an especially important cases investigator of the Third Investigative Division for Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan City at the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, of the requirements of Part 4 of Article 35 and Part 5 of Article 235 of the Criminal Procedure Code, namely, a violation of the procedure for conducting a search, that is, allowing other persons, in particular media representatives, to enter the search site without necessity, as well as a violation of the code of conduct for persons holding autonomous positions in the Investigative Committee, namely, the unnecessary disclosure of pre-trial investigation data through mass media, and violations of the rules for wearing a uniform. Hakob Hakobkokhyan was summoned to the Internal Security Department to provide an explanation, after which he submitted an application to be relieved of his post,” the statement said.
On March 29, an incident occurred during a service at Yerevan’s St. Anna Church. As the prime minister was leaving through a dense crowd, one person told a bodyguard clearing the way, “Don’t look at me like that.” Another person standing farther back in the line tried to strike toward Pashinyan. Nikol Pashinyan instructed his bodyguards to remain calm. The detentions took place in the church courtyard. Twins Mikael Minasyan and Gevorg Gevorgyan were given a ban on absence and bail of 5 million drams as a preventive measure. David Minasyan was remanded in custody for two months on April 1 by Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan’s decision.
