The COP17 organizing committee held a regular meeting, focusing on current activities, international cooperation, and the scheduling of upcoming events. Progress in preparatory work was discussed, covering construction and infrastructure projects, identified and inventoried issues, as well as steps taken to address them, the Ministry of Environment reported.
Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan also presented the international processes carried out by the COP17 presidency, including the results of a recent visit to the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity. Agreements reached with partners and the developed timeline were discussed.
One of the key topics of discussion was the preliminary agenda of COP17, within which the minister outlined the main and parallel events, their thematic focus, and the schedule for their organization.
The meeting also addressed the organization of the leaders’ summit, as well as the coordination process with relevant bodies from various countries.
Following the meeting, priorities, the scope of responsible parties, and further steps were clarified.
The 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) will take place from October 18 to 30, 2026, at the Meridian Expo Center in Yerevan.
