Tremors from Turkey quake reach Armenia

An earthquake that occurred near the city of Van in Turkey was also felt in Yerevan, as well as in the Shirak and Ararat regions, with an intensity of 2 points, Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs press service reported.

“On April 4 at 09:52 local time (05:52 GMT), the seismological network of the Territorial Seismic Protection Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia recorded an earthquake 40 km north of the city of Van, Turkey, with a magnitude of 5.2 and a focal depth of 7 km,” the statement said.

The intensity of the underground tremor at the epicenter reached 7 points.

The seismic event was recorded at geographic coordinates of 38.83° north latitude and 43.54° east longitude.
