Arman Sahakyan, a member of the Republican Party of Armenia and former MP, was released after questioning, his lawyer Emin Khachatryan said. According to him, a new accusation has been brought against Sahakyan, Sputnik Armenia reports.
Sahakyan, along with several former high-ranking officials, had been detained the previous day within the framework of a criminal case investigated by the Anti-Corruption Committee.
The defense attorney did not disclose details about the new case, noting that he had been warned not to reveal pre-trial investigation secrets.
“Arman Sahakyan was questioned, and other investigative actions were carried out. Bail and a travel ban have been imposed on him as preventive measures,” Khachatryan said.
Sahakyan had previously been charged back in 2020, when bail of 5 million drams was set as a preventive measure.
On July 1, 2024, it was reported that Sahakyan had compensated the state for damages amounting to 178 million drams.
In January 2025, by court decision, Arman Sahakyan was not placed under arrest, and an alternative preventive measure—administrative supervision—was applied.
