Aid planned for Armenians returning from Middle East

The Armenian government will allocate around 250 million drams to partially compensate citizens who were unable to return from the Middle East due to the war in Iran.

Financial assistance will be provided to about 1,080 Armenian citizens who could not return to Armenia via regular flights, according to Factor.am .

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized the return of citizens by securing flight permissions from Oman, Lebanon, and India. Free transportation was arranged from the UAE to Oman: between March 4 and 10, 253 Armenian citizens were transported to Oman via five flights. Between March 2 and 12, 550 citizens returned on Muscat–Yerevan flights, while from March 3 to 16, around 1,030 citizens arrived in Armenia on Dubai–Yerevan flights.

As of March 19, about 1,080 citizens had applied to diplomatic missions, including students from Israel, Qatar, and Kuwait. The government plans to provide compensation of up to 250,000 drams per person for those whose flights were canceled.

The program will apply to airline tickets purchased between February 28 and March 25, 2026. Applications will be submitted through the platform, and approved payments will be transferred within five days.
