Armenia will impose temporary flight restrictions from May 3 to May 5, affecting only non-commercial aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Committee said in a clarification.
The authority emphasized that the restriction does not apply to commercial (scheduled or unscheduled) flights, nor to flights conducted in emergency situations.
According to the statement, the measure is linked բացառապես to large-scale events scheduled in Armenia during that period, involving numerous foreign delegations, and is based on security considerations.
The suspension will apply to general aviation flights due to the need to ensure safety.
“From May 3 to May 5, 2026, only general aviation flights will be prohibited in Armenia’s airspace, specifically:
- non-commercial business flights,
- training flights,
- private flights,
- flights conducted for agricultural, construction, research, filming, survey, advertising, and other specialized services,
- all types of unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) flights.
We urge the public to refrain from spreading misinformation and to follow only updates published on the official Facebook page of the Civil Aviation Committee,” the statement said.
Large-scale events are scheduled in Armenia on May 3–5, including the 8th European Political Community summit, the Armenia–EU summit, and the Yerevan Dialogue initiative, with participation of numerous foreign delegations.
