Armenia, U.S. discuss intellectual property cooperation

Deputy Economy Minister Anushik Avetyan and Deputy Chief Counsel of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program Zmarak Khan discussed expanding Armenia–U.S. cooperation in the field of intellectual property protection during a meeting at the ministry.

The sides emphasized the importance of intellectual property in building a competitive, innovative, and knowledge-based economy. They noted that cooperation in this field contributes to improving the investment climate, advancing technology commercialization, and ensuring sustainable economic growth.

Avetyan presented the draft “Strategic Program for the Development of the Intellectual Property Sector of the Republic of Armenia for 2026–2030,” which предусматривает comprehensive legal and institutional reforms aligned with international standards.

The discussion also covered future areas for deepening cooperation, including capacity-building programs, improving law enforcement practices, strengthening coordination among stakeholders, and continuous exchange of international experience.

The meeting took place as part of a visit by a U.S. delegation to Armenia, aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation and exploring new program directions.
