No cases of killings related to military service were recorded in 2025 (compared to 5 cases involving 5 individuals in 2024), and no killings by the enemy were registered either (3 cases, 4 individuals in 2024), Investigative Committee Chairman Artur Poghosyan said at an April 16 session of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, presenting the agency’s 2025 report.
He also noted that no cases were recorded involving violations of rules for operating or driving service-related transport or combat vehicles (2 cases with 5 deaths in 2024), or violations related to the operation, preparation, or flights of military aircraft (1 case with 2 deaths in 2024).
Presenting the committee’s annual performance, Poghosyan stated that 90,931 criminal proceedings were examined during the reporting period, compared to 85,341 in the same period of the previous year — an increase of 5,590 cases, or 6.5%.
Out of the 90,931 proceedings, 69,694 were resolved, compared to 63,211 the previous year — an increase of 6,483 cases, or 10.2%.
Addressing completed cases, he noted that the number of proceedings sent to court increased by 2,825, or 23.8% compared to the previous year. Of the 41,761 completed criminal proceedings, 14,650 cases involving 15,533 individuals were forwarded to court with indictments (in 2024 — 11,825 cases involving 12,805 individuals).
Poghosyan also highlighted the recovery of financial damages in both completed and ongoing cases, noting a record 47 billion 129 million 552 thousand drams recovered in 2025 — exceeding the previous year’s figure by 8 billion 41 million 225 thousand drams (2024 — 39 billion 118 million 327 thousand drams).
During the Q&A with lawmakers, the Investigative Committee chairman also addressed crimes involving minors, cases of domestic violence, and corruption-related offenses, presenting relevant statistics.
