If any school principal is being pressured in connection with elections, evidence should be submitted to law enforcement bodies or the Central Electoral Commission, CEC Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan said in parliament, responding to remarks by Hayastan faction MP Artsvik Minasyan.
According to Minasyan, school principals face pressure based on political views during electoral processes, 1lurer.am reports.
“I promise, as CEC chairman, to personally forward such evidence to the Prosecutor General and ensure that it is properly investigated. I would like to remind that school principals are also bound by a mandate of political neutrality — this is simply a reminder. But if there are issues where any principal is being pressured in connection with elections, we ask that the evidence be submitted to us,” he said.
Hovakimyan also stated that during his tenure he will strictly uphold political neutrality.
“As CEC chairman, I will exercise my powers and duties to ensure that officials elected to our community councils and parliament represent the people of Armenia and the will of the people,” he said.
Parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for June 7, 2026.
