Tsitsernakaberd memorial restoration works completed

Construction and restoration work at the Armenian Genocide memorial complex in Tsitsernakaberd has been completed, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport reported, according to Sputnik Armenia.

Final cleaning operations are currently in progress.

“At this stage, cleaning is being carried out and will also be completed ahead of the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide,” the ministry said.

The Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex was built in 1965 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

A large-scale planned renovation of the memorial and museum-institute area began in October 2024 under the supervision of Honored Architect of Armenia Sashur Kalashyan, a co-author of the original complex and museum-institute design created nearly 60 years ago.
