Levon Zurabyan, the Armenian National Congress (ANC) candidate for prime minister, has stated that after independence, the recognition of the Armenian Genocide was not placed on the state policy agenda, but it has never been denied.
In a Facebook post, he noted that the ANC will take part in nationwide events on April 24 with the march titled “You Cannot Erase Memory.”
“We have never placed the recognition of the Armenian Genocide on the state policy agenda.
But we have never denied our past and our memory. That is why, in 1995, the Armenian Genocide Museum was built, and an international scientific conference dedicated to the 80th anniversary was held with the participation of renowned genocide scholars.
We have not turned the Armenian Genocide into a bargaining chip in political games harmful to the state’s interests and will not do so, but we will not allow anyone to erase memory and identity.
