Babajanyan: Russian interference list submitted to U.S. Senate

The list of Facebook and YouTube accounts allegedly serving as tools of Russian interference in Armenia’s elections has been submitted to the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said For the Republic Party chairman Arman Babajanyan.

“Based on this list, Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Thom Tillis have sent letters to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, demanding immediate steps to protect Armenia’s elections from Russian interference.

Today, I expressed my deep gratitude to Jeanne Shaheen. I have had many opportunities to meet with the long-serving U.S. senator and hold substantive discussions on Armenia and the post-Soviet region. She is one of Armenia’s best friends in the U.S. Senate, and her principled and active stance is an important support for protecting Armenia’s democracy and sovereignty,” the statement said.

U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Thom Tillis have called on Meta and Alphabet to allocate sufficient resources to counter Russian disinformation ahead of Armenia’s parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7. They stressed that the upcoming elections are of significant importance for the country’s future, as they could “determine the outcome of regional peace initiatives as well as communication projects, including TRIPP, which is a key component of peace negotiations.”
