Greco-Roman wrestler Suren Aghajanyan became a European vice-champion, winning a silver medal at the European Championships.
Competing in the 60 kg final, Aghajanyan, who was taking part in a senior tournament for the first time, lost to Serbia’s Georgi Tibilov in a bout that ended 2:2.
Another Armenian representative, 67 kg wrestler Slavik Galstyan, also performed successfully, earning a bronze medal. In the decisive bout, the two-time world championship bronze medalist secured a 5:3 victory over an athlete representing Ukraine.
Gaspar Terteryan, the 2025 U20 world champion, also made his senior debut and won a bronze medal.
In the decisive match in the 72 kg category, the Armenian wrestler defeated Aleksandr Lyavonchuk, who competed under the United World Wrestling flag, the statement said, according to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
Olympic bronze medalist and two-time world champion Malkhas Amoyan has been crowned European champion for the fifth time in his career.
