In Armenia, Canadian Ambassador Andrew Turner visited the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex and paid tribute to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
He described the commemoration ceremony as “powerful and impactful”. The ambassador wrote about this on his X microblog.
“It was a great honor for me today, on the Day of Remembrance of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, to represent Canada at Tsitsernakaberd. A powerful, impactful ceremony,” the ambassador wrote.
Canada has officially recognized the Armenian Genocide. The Canadian Senate adopted a resolution on June 13, 2002, and the House of Commons in April 2004.
