Matevosyan highlights Armenia role at G7 meeting

Armenia’s Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan highlighted the importance of the country’s participation in the G7 environment ministers’ meeting held in Paris.

In a Facebook post, he noted that Armenia’s presence in this format reflects growing international trust toward the country and underscores its increasing role in the global environmental agenda.

“The G7 brings together key players in global political and economic processes, and our participation on this platform allowed us to present Armenia’s priorities and contribute to shaping international discussions around them.

Our participation was also particularly significant as Armenia is set to host the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17). This places a high responsibility on us to actively engage in international processes, strengthen partnerships, and develop unified approaches aimed at biodiversity conservation and addressing climate challenges.

During the meetings, I reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to act as an initiator and a reliable partner, and presented our priorities in ensuring the effective implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and strengthening cooperation between multilateral processes,” the post reads.

The 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) will take place from October 18 to 30, 2026, at the Meridian Expo Center in Yerevan.
