Anna Hakobyan mulls legal action against Ioannisyan

Executive director of the My Step foundation Anna Hakobyan said she has instructed her legal team to examine the possibility of initiating criminal proceedings against Daniel Ioannisyan and the “Independent Observer” alliance.

Speaking to journalists, Hakobyan stated that Ioannisyan and the alliance had damaged the business reputation of the My Step foundation and harmed its public image.

According to her, attempts were made to associate her with the ruling political force, which she described as a violation of constitutional rights, Sputnik Armenia reports.

On April 22, the Independent Observer alliance filed a lawsuit with the administrative court, citing charitable activities carried out by the My Step foundation. If the court grants the claim, the foundation could face a fine of up to 6 million drams.

Responding to a journalist’s remark that she is associated with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the ruling party, Hakobyan said: “By doing so, you are violating my constitutional right. One cannot make another person’s political orientation or voting choice a subject of public discussion, regardless of who that person is. Go and ask the people whether I am associated or not.”

Regarding the “Education is Fashionable” initiative supported by the foundation, Hakobyan stressed that it has never been funded by the government, adding that the prime minister only participated in events as a speaker.
