Armenia’s economic activity index increased by 7.1% in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year, according to the Statistical Committee.
In March alone, the indicator rose by 11.6% compared to February and by 6.6% year-on-year. The data revision reflects updates tied to GDP recalculations, which adjusted sector weights based on 2024 actual and 2025 revised figures, Armenpress reports.
The highest growth during the period was recorded in the construction sector, which expanded by 22%, reaching 95.64 billion drams. In March, construction grew by 34.4% month-on-month and 24% year-on-year, with total monthly output at 41.69 billion drams.
The industrial sector grew by 13.4% in January–March, totaling 748.8 billion drams. However, in March, output declined by 2% compared to February, while still increasing by 7% compared to March 2025. Monthly industrial output stood at 256.52 billion drams.
Agricultural output declined by 5.2% over the same period, totaling 96.36 billion drams.
Trade turnover rose by 2.1% to 1.44 trillion drams. In March, it increased by 14.1% compared to February and by 0.2% year-on-year, reaching 550.55 billion drams.
The services sector (excluding trade) expanded by 7.4%, reaching 981.73 billion drams. In March, services grew by 12.6% month-on-month and 7.8% year-on-year, totaling 351.42 billion drams.
The consumer price index increased by 4.2% in January–March. In March, it rose by 0.7% compared to February and by 4.5% year-on-year.
The industrial producer price index rose by 9.2% during the same period. In March, it increased by 0.1% month-on-month and by 9.5% year-on-year.
Electricity production reached 2.6648 billion kWh in the first quarter, up 7.7% from the previous year. In March, production increased by 7.1% compared to February and by 9% year-on-year, totaling 840.9 million kWh.
These figures do not include electricity generated by autonomous producers within energy exchange flows, and for comparability, such volumes were also excluded from previous periods.
