Armenia’s Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan and Deputy Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Javier Castellanos Mosquera discussed ongoing joint programs in the field of social protection, as well as prospects for expanding cooperation.
Torosyan highly praised the effective partnership with the federation, emphasizing the organization’s role in providing social assistance to people displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. He outlined the sector’s priorities and addressed opportunities for experience exchange and implementation of joint initiatives.
Mosquera also highlighted the importance of cooperation, noting that the established constructive dialogue and mutual trust contribute to the further development of joint efforts.
In September 2023, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale offensive in Nagorno-Karabakh, leading to a ceasefire agreement a day later and the subsequent disarmament and dissolution of local Armenian authorities. As a result, more than 100,000 people were forcibly displaced to Armenia.
