Artur Avanesyan, head of the security team of the Strong Armenia party, participant in the Artsakh wars, and intelligence officer known as Kandaz, has been detained.
The Anti-Corruption Court granted the investigator’s motion and applied detention as a preventive measure for a period of two months, Aysor.am reports.
Former Human Rights Defender of Artsakh and former State Minister Artak Beglaryan, commenting on the detention, wrote that the individual was “arrested for voicing programmatic theses.”
“This is another arrest on absurd charges, driven by the authorities’ political objectives.
The detention of Strong Armenia party representative, legendary intelligence officer and patriotic Artsakh native Artur Avanesyan, Kandaz, falls into this pattern.
Imagine, in the recording, he says: ‘Both the work will be mine, and the land will be mine, and the home will be mine.’ After voicing such programmatic theses, the person is dramatically arrested and attempts are made to discredit both him and his party. I am simply confident that Kandaz could not commit any violations.
The Pashinyan authorities will stop at nothing to reproduce themselves, and their violations can only be examined after they are gone,” the post states.
Gohar Meloyan, a member of the Strong Armenia party, stated that the absence of any criminal elements in Avanesyan’s actions is evident.
“What are the current authorities doing to heroes who defeated the Azerbaijani authorities? They arrest them.
Which action in the published recording constitutes a criminal offense? In general, which statement contains elements of an act prohibited by the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia? I believe it is clear to any impartial observer that in the published recordings, there is an obvious absence of any criminal elements in the actions of Arthur Avanesyan, ‘Kandaz.’
In a strong Armenia, heroes will receive honor and respect,” she wrote.
Artur Avanesyan, a member of the“Strong Armenia party, was detained on the morning of April 27 and is accused in a vote-buying case. He does not accept the charges.
