Speaking in Paris, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said the agreement with France is expected soon. He was attending a meeting of heads of Armenian diplomatic missions accredited in European countries and organizations.
Mirzoyan noted that strategic cooperation is being discussed with multiple countries.
“In recent months, this has already happened with some countries, for example, with Germany. The names differ slightly from document to document: in one case, it is the establishment of a strategic partnership, in another, a strategic partnership agenda. For instance, with the European Union, we signed a Strategic Partnership Agenda, and so on,” he said.
He also referred to high-level events scheduled in Yerevan on May 4–6, including the European Political Community summit, the Armenia–EU summit, and the Yerevan Dialogue initiative.
Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan, responsible for relations with European countries, presented the summit agenda and planned documents, while Foreign Ministry Secretary General Davit Karapetyan outlined preparations and key themes of the “Yerevan Dialogue.”
Participants discussed the development of Armenia–EU partnership, deepening bilateral ties with European countries, as well as current programs and future prospects.
Mirzoyan also addressed regional connectivity initiatives and cooperation with international partners in developing economic and transport infrastructure.
The discussions also covered normalization of relations with neighboring countries, including the institutionalization of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Regional and international developments, existing challenges, and initiatives to improve the diplomatic service and related legislative changes were also discussed.
French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to pay a state visit to Armenia in early May.
