Kallas says Armenia will decide on its path

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, responding to a question about the prospect of Armenia’s membership in the European Union, said that Armenia will decide for itself.

“Armenia makes its own decisions; elections are taking place here in a month. Of course, the European prospect is on the table, and Armenia will decide for itself,” she said, according to RFE/RL.

In the European Parliament in October 2023, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, addressing Armenia-European Union bilateral ties, emphasized that Armenia was ready to deepen relations with the European Union as much as the EU deemed acceptable.

“In the long term, the European Union and Armenia are determined to strengthen their economic ties by working to unlock the full potential of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement,” Nikol Pashinyan said.

In March 2025, Armenia adopted the law “On launching the process of the Republic of Armenia’s accession to the European Union,” which entered into force in April of the same year.
