Rubinyan cites progress in regional dynamics

The positive development is that Armenia and Azerbaijan now have relations, Armenia’s special envoy for normalization with Turkey Ruben Rubinyan said at the Yerevan Dialogue international forum.

According to him, before August last year, the countries were in a state of conflict, but since then “unbelievable things have happened that people could not have imagined,” reports Factor.am .

Rubinyan stressed that no soldiers have been killed on either side of the border, noting that previously there had not been a single year without military casualties.

He also said that since last autumn, Azerbaijan has lifted restrictions on railway transit through its territory to Armenia, calling it an important step for the South Caucasus. In addition, Armenian business representatives have begun trading with Azerbaijan.

Earlier, Turkey’s special envoy for normalization with Armenia, Serdar Kilic, who is also participating in the forum, said that the timeline for opening the Armenia–Turkey border has not yet been discussed.
