Work on restoring the Kars-Gyumri railway and related infrastructure is continuing, although it is still too early to speak about possible timelines, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a briefing, reports Armenpress.
“We are working in that direction, but at this stage I still cannot say anything about deadlines because there are many technical assessment processes underway. Even now, during the work, we continue discovering technical issues that we did not know about one or two months ago, because for nearly 40 years, this infrastructure was not properly maintained. We need to assess the needs and then move forward,” Pashinyan said.
The prime minister noted that specialists are continuing technical evaluations as part of the broader restoration process.
Within the framework of Armenia-Turkey normalization efforts, a meeting of the joint Armenian-Turkish working group on the restoration and operation of the Gyumri-Kars railway was held in Kars on April 28.
