Volodin criticizes Zelensky’s appearance in Yerevan

Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the first Armenia-EU summit held in Yerevan could not be viewed as a friendly step toward Russia, its citizens, or the Armenian people.

“On the eve of Victory Day, a holiday that, as I have already said, unites representatives of all nationalities, a summit was held in Yerevan attended by guests of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Speeches and statements were then delivered by those present, including, apparently, Pashinyan’s ‘personal’ guest — the leader of the bloody Kyiv regime, Zelensky. It is absolutely obvious that this step by Pashinyan cannot be considered friendly toward our country, Russian citizens, and also the Armenian people,” Volodin said, according to TASS.

At the same time, the State Duma speaker stressed that the issue was not about Armenia’s sovereignty or interference in its internal affairs.

“This is about morality and decency. Either they exist, or they do not. One may hold a high office, but that does not mean the person possesses these qualities,” he said.

Armenian Ambassador to Russia Gurgen Arsenyan was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry over Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech in Yerevan.

“The ambassador was firmly told that it was unacceptable to provide a ‘platform’ during events held under the auspices of the EU in Yerevan for Zelensky, the leader of the Nazi Kyiv regime, to make terrorist threats against Russia,” the ministry said in a statement.
