Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee said investigative actions had been carried out at the Hayastan alliance’s Spitak office, Sputnik Armenia reported.
“These investigative actions are being conducted within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated by the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia. Additional information will be provided if necessary,” the committee said.
Earlier, ABC media reported that one person had been detained and taken to Yerevan.
Earlier during the current election campaign, searches and detentions were recorded at various offices of the Strong Armenia alliance, while for the Hayastan alliance this is the first such case.
The Hayastan alliance stated that no search or detention can change its political agenda.
“The actions taking place at our Spitak office and the targeting of our teammates are not surprising. Such conduct by the law enforcement system has long become the signature style of the current regime.
These actions once again demonstrate that the authorities lack public support and confidence in their own strength, and in order to ensure their reproduction they resort to such measures.
What is happening is not a legal process, but another cheap attempt to obstruct the normal work of our structures.
Through such methods, the authorities seek to spread an atmosphere of fear, but this only strengthens our conviction that the chosen path is the correct one.
No search or arrest can change our political agenda — our team knows what it is fighting for.
We call on our citizens to respond to all unlawful actions carried out by the authorities on June 7 by rejecting the authoritarian regime established in Armenia,” the alliance’s statement said.
The election campaign launched on May 8 will continue until June 5. June 6 will be a day of silence, while elections will be held on June 7.
