Deputy Interior Minister Armen Ghazaryan discussed the organization of the upcoming National Assembly elections, the formation of voter lists and issues related to the activities of the election observation mission during a meeting with a delegation led by Janez Lenarčič, head of the OSCE/ODIHR election observation mission.
Ghazaryan presented the process of compiling voter lists, noting that preliminary lists by polling station have already been published. The deputy minister also addressed procedures for verifying voter data and preparing the final voter lists.
According to him, the Migration and Citizenship Service is carrying out extensive daily work to ensure the accuracy of voter data.
Lenarčič stressed that the aim of the observation mission is to assess the electoral process’s compliance with OSCE commitments, other international standards and Armenia’s national legislation, as well as to provide a comprehensive analysis of the electoral process.
From the perspective of properly organizing the observation mission’s work, Lenarčič emphasized the importance of effective cooperation and coordinated work with state bodies. The sides also discussed several issues of mutual interest.
The election campaign that began on May 8 will continue until June 5. June 6 will be a day of silence, and elections will be held on June 7.
