Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan “organizes staged assassination or terror attempts against himself whenever he finds himself under pressure,” Armenia alliance lawmaker and ARF Supreme Body representative Ishkhan Saghatelyan said during a Facebook livestream, commenting on a video circulated online that Pashinyan referenced while issuing threats and accusing the opposition of organizing it.
“Nothing has changed with this man; it is an old and exposed pattern. Whenever he is cornered, he stages assassination and terror attempts against himself. I am convinced he prepared it himself,” Saghatelyan said.
According to him, all of this is being done to spread fear within society and justify unlawful actions and arrests against the opposition.
“Listen, Nikol, our nation needs you alive and healthy. We are going to do everything to ensure your safety because we need you alive so that in court you can explain why you surrendered Artsakh, why nearly 5,000 people died, and who your accomplices were. Stop this performance. You will not succeed this way, and do not stage new performances in vain.
As for those masked and runaway people… don’t you understand that now under every tree and bush in Armenia people stop you and tell you directly who you are — a traitor to the homeland, someone who surrendered land, someone who wants to be reelected in order to hand over more territory,” Saghatelyan said.
Armenia’s Investigative Committee earlier stated that a video containing a real threat of murder against the prime minister, connected to his political views and state activities, had been circulated online, and criminal proceedings had been launched against a group of individuals.
