Marukyan criticizes renewed March 1 rhetoric

Edmon Marukyan, the prime ministerial candidate of the Bright Armenia party, said the events of March 1 have been politically exploited in 2018, 2021 and continue to be used in 2026. He made the remarks during a podcast with Karpis Pashoyan near the memorial dedicated to the victims of March 1.

“How many times can the same product be sold to people, deceive them, and then come back and say things turned out this way?” Marukyan said.

According to him, everything that could have been done regarding the March 1 case under the current authorities has already been done, and there is nothing fundamentally new they can achieve.

Marukyan also argued that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan does not understand that part of the public does not share his views and has the right to express differing opinions.

“You cannot silence those people, drag them around, or arrest someone for tearing down a poster,” Edmon Marukyan said.

The election campaign that began on May 8 will continue until June 5. June 6 will be observed as a day of silence, and elections will be held on June 7.
