NSS to seek treason case against Andranik Tevanyan

The National Security Service will send a crime report to the Investigative Committee against Andranik Tevanyan, No. 2 on the Prosperous Armenia Party electoral list, under the treason article, expecting a criminal case to be opened, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a rally in Vanadzor on May 20.

“Tomorrow, the National Security Service of Armenia will, in the prescribed manner, send a crime report to the Investigative Committee, expecting a criminal case to be opened against Andranik Tevanyan under the article on treason. And we will ultimately uproot this spy network from the Republic of Armenia once and for all,” he said, Armenpress reports.

Andranik Tevanyan responded to Pashinyan in a Facebook livestream, saying that “this illegality will stick in his throat.”

“Can you imagine? Nikol Pashinyan, who serves the interests of Turkey and Azerbaijan and handed over Artsakh and Armenian territories through state treason, is accusing me of state treason. This speaks to one thing: the client is agitated, nervous, clutching at straws, thinking that by resorting to repression and issuing orders from a rally platform he will be able to reproduce his power. This illegality will stick in his throat,” Tevanyan said.

He also noted that Pashinyan, from the podium and live on air, is effectively giving orders and instructions to law enforcement agencies on who should be arrested or against whom a case should be opened.

In February 2026, the Mother Armenia party led by Andranik Tevanyan announced that it would take part in the parliamentary elections with the Prosperous Armenia Party led by Gagik Tsarukyan, within the framework of the Offer to Armenia program.
