The National Security Service (NSS) is conducting a search at the office of Andranik Tevanyan’s Mother Armenia party. The information was announced on Facebook by party representative Aregnaz Manukyan.
“At exactly 7 a.m., masked NSS officers entered the Mother Armenia party office,” he wrote.
Later, Manukyan said that members and supporters of the Mother Armenia party had been waiting outside the office for more than two hours for the investigative actions to conclude, Sputnik Armenia reported.
“We are not being allowed into the office. At exactly 7:00 a.m., the NSS entered the party office. It is still unclear what will follow the investigative actions and whether Andranik Tevanyan will be detained on Nikol Pashinyan’s illegal orders. At first, in a rather rough manner — pulling my hands and using force — the NSS did not allow me to film. I demanded that they present a notice. Only after our lawyer arrived and a notice was presented did I stop filming,” Manukyan said.
He added that they were not even allowed to remove personal family-related documents from the office.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on May 20 that Armenia’s National Security Service would send a report to the Investigative Committee seeking criminal proceedings against Tevanyan on charges of treason. On May 21, the Investigative Committee said criminal proceedings had been launched against Andranik Tevanyan on accusations of treason and espionage.
Tevanyan himself denied the allegations, stating that he was no longer a member of parliament in 2024, as he had given up his mandate in 2023.
