On May 24, during the Feast of Pentecost, four clergymen of the Armenian Apostolic Church will receive the rank of bishop, the Mother See’s press service reported.
The episcopal ordination will take place at the Mother Cathedral during the Holy Liturgy, led by Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II.
The rank of bishop will be granted to Fr. Isaac Poghosyan, locum tenens of the Gegharkunik Diocese; Fr. Ruben Zargaryan, locum tenens of the Masis Diocese; Fr. Anania Tsaturyan, sacristan of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin; and Fr. Zakaria Baghumyan, director of the Mother See’s Preaching Center.
The Holy Liturgy will begin at 10:30 a.m.
On February 14, it became known that Armenia’s Prosecutor General’s Office had initiated criminal prosecution against Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II over alleged failure to comply with a court ruling in the case involving the former head of the Masis Diocese, and had banned him from leaving Armenia.
