Tatoyan: authorities go beyond all moral boundaries

Recent statements by representatives of Armenia’s current authorities are “beyond all moral boundaries,” declared Arman Tatoyan, prime ministerial candidate of the Wings of Unity party.

“Pashinyan tells people: why didn’t you die during the war? How can a person who is prime minister, on whose call soldiers went to war, on whose call people also heroically died, ask those same men who went through the war why they did not die? I view this as an obvious attempt to shift his own guilt onto our soldiers. It is incomprehensible and beyond any moral limit. How can Armenia’s prime minister say: justify why you did not die,” Tatoyan said, according to Sputnik Armenia.

He also addressed the behavior and communication style of Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, recalling one of the army’s tragedies — the Azat military barracks fire — for which, according to him, the real responsibility lies with the leadership of the ministry.

“Look at Defense Minister Suren Papikyan’s language, how he speaks to citizens using slang and says: justify why you did not die. You justify why you did not die. Can you justify the case of our 15 soldiers who died in the fire at the Azat barracks — why did they die? They died because of the failures of the minister appointed by the prime minister and the commanders they selected. A minister’s job is to pursue policies so that as few people as possible die, not to later ask why someone did not die,” Tatoyan concluded.

The election campaign that began on May 8 will continue until June 5. June 6 will be a day of silence, while elections will be held on June 7.
