Poll suggests five parties will enter parliament

Aram Navasardyan, director of MPG LLC, the Armenian full member of the GALLUP International Association, presented the results of the latest telephone survey conducted from May 19-21 among 1,102 respondents.

Asked which party or alliance they would support if parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, respondents gave the following answers: 28.8 percent favored the Civil Contract party, 14.9 percent supported Strong Armenia, 12.1 percent backed the Hayastan alliance, 8.7 percent supported Prosperous Armenia, while 5.8 percent favored the Wings of Unity party, Panorama.am reported.

According to the survey, 59.3 percent of respondents said they would definitely participate in the elections if voting were held next Sunday. For comparison, Navasardyan noted that turnout intention stood at 51.9 percent in early April and 57.5 percent at the end of April.

The Democracy Law Discipline party received support from 3.4 percent of respondents, Bright Armenia from 2.9 percent, the Armenian Republican Party from 2.8 percent, the New Force Reformist Party from 2.7 percent, the Against Everyone Democratic Party from 1.9 percent, the Republic Party from 1.3 percent, the Defenders of Democracy for the Republic alliance from 0.5 percent, the Kochari National Revival and Awakening of the Nation party from 0.4 percent, the Armenian National Congress from 0.3 percent, the Christian Democratic party from 0.2 percent, the National Democratic Alliance from 0.2 percent, the Democratic Consolidation party from 0.1 percent, the Alliance Progressive Centrist Party from 0.1 percent, and the Reformists Party from 0.1 percent.

Meanwhile, 0.9 percent of respondents said they would spoil their ballot, 8.6 percent refused to answer the question, and 3.4 percent said they were undecided.

The election campaign that began on May 8 will continue until June 5. June 6 will be a day of silence, while elections will take place on June 7.
